REGION 5 BENEFIT RIDE September 4-5, 2010; Dawson Forest, Dawsonville, GA
TYPE A: OPEN, CP, NOVICE; TYPE B: OPEN, NOVICE. No Rider limit as this ride is

LOCATION: The ride will take place in Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area
near Dawsonville, GA. Dawsonville has an Outlet Mall, Gas Stations, Hotels,
Grocery Stores and Fast Food within 5 miles of camp…also a Kangaroo Center!
DIRECTIONS: From the SOUTH: Take I-85N to GA 400(Hwy19) appx 1 hour N of
Atlanta. Turn LEFT on to DAWSON FOREST RD just south of the malls in
Dawsonville. Follow road in to DAWSON FOREST and signs to camp.
From the NORTH or NORTHWEST: Take I-75 South or I-575 East to Hwy 20 E. From
Hwy 20 E go appx 7 miles and turn on Hwy 369. Go appx 14 miles and turn left
on Hwy 19 (toward Dawsonville). Turn left onto Dawson Forest Rd and into
Dawson Forest AREA. Turn right and follow signs into camp.
From the NORTHEAST and EAST: Take I-85 South to Hwy 129(exit137), turn right
towards Gainsville, GA. Go thru Gainsville and take Hwy 60 W to Hwy 400
(Hwy19). Turn left at the stop light going south on 400. Turn Right on Dawson
Forest Rd (just past malls). Go 5 miles and at the stop sign cross Hwy 9… stay
straight and follow signs into camp.
From the WEST: Take I-20 EAST into Atlanta. TAKE I-75/I-85 NORTH (8 lane
traffic) to the split. WATCH for I-85N to GA HWY 400 N. Continue appx 1 hour
to Dawson Forest Rd. Take LEFT before mall. Continue into DAWSON FOREST
following signs into camp.
NOTE: HWY 400 IS A TOLL ROAD…..
FEES: 2 Day Ride: NATRC MEMBERS, Adults $85, Juniors $65, (non-members add
$20). 1 Day Ride: NATRC MEMBERS, Adults $75, Juniors $55, (non-members add
$20). There is a $35 non-refundable deposit with registration. REGISTER ON-
LINE at natrc5.org and use paypal or mail checks( PAYABLE TO Cindy Keen) to

CAMPING: Expect primitive camping conditions. There are no trailer hook-ups,
wash racks, shower/flush toilet facilities or potable water. Porta-Johns will
be provided in camp.
RIDE NOTES: Horses will be stationary tied to trailer or picket lined to trees
in camp. At least 1 person with each trailer is to remain with horses in camp
overnight. Stallions must be doubles tied. Management will provide a small
water truck in camp. Try to bring ample drinking water, hay and grain for your
horse. Grass is limited in camp.
Friday Night will be a POTLUCK DINNER. Saturday Night will be the SILENT
AUCTION and very nice, buffet-style, catered BBQ DINNER with all the fixins.
Plates are available for $25 per person. DINING ENTERTAINMENT will be provided
by our on Region 5 “NASHVILLE STARS”. ALSO we will have our annual fundraiser
SILENT AUCTION. Please bring good quality donated items suitable for the
auction. The proceeds from the ride, dinner, auction and skit will benefit
Region Five HOSTING the 2011 NATRC NATIONAL CONVENTION in NASHVILLE, TN.
CHECK-IN: 2:00 pm Friday. Vet-In to follow. PLEASE notify ride manager, CINDY
KEEN 478-290-3868, if you will not be arriving in camp by 6:00 pm Friday. RIDE
BRIEFINGS will be Friday 7:00 pm and Saturday after BBQ Dinner. Dogs must be
on leashes, no alcohol, firearms or open fires allowed in camp. VOLUNTEERS are
welcome and needed. PLEASE COME AND HAVE A WONDERFUL LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!
